and of course, a nice compact family health guide from the 'other Dr Sanjay Gupta!...'

Dr Sanjay Gupta's Bottom Lines for your GOOD HEALTH

Of course it is..., as  USMLE CASE –BASED PRESENTATION AND "ACTIVE LEARNING," has been  the primary means by which Medicine has been taught, even since Sir Osler’s time…and now it is being taught, to USMLE tutored examinees on an individualized, on-demand basis by top MDs, that have been teaching for medical licensing examinations since the turn of this century (i.e.14 years or more)...."

and yes they are VERY VERY expensive at $13,750 per Step (FINANCING is available for eligible applicants; and PERIODIC MAJOR DISCOUNTS (along with special REFERRAL REBATE and STUDENT AGENT programs i.e., I WAS IN ONE...) are available if you mention this blog at "Dr Satyajit')--but that money is only transferred to them if your USMLE score report is a PASS--no other nonsense, there--just that BOTTOM LINE- guarantee of your success... at ALL COSTS)-these are the " USMLE Tutors of Choice (INDEED, EVEN HAVING REFERRED TO THE FOUNDER AS THE 'USMLE EINSTEIN...' -driven e CLASSeS  ("Comprehensive Licensing And Student Support Services") for HCPs

Why pay this much? IF YOU ARE AN IMG, and think that $14k is too much, well...look at this post by a PGY2 currently making ~$175K per year,-moonlighting! DO NOT BE A FOOL...DO NOT LISTEN TO OTHER IMG FOOLS...YOU MUST ACE YOUR STEPS-PERIOD-TAKE STEP 3 IF NEEDED.HERE'S WHY! RE:

'Almost every program will let you moonlight at least PGY-3 after passing step 3 and getting your license. Only one program I interviewed at did not allow moonlighting at all during residency. Many programs allow you to start moonlighting once you pass step 3 and get your license, meaning you could start early PGY-2 if you are intentional about taking step 3 soon. Some programs even allow you to moonlight starting PGY-2 regardless of whether or not you have taken step 3.

It also varies whether a program lets you moonlight internally (at your home institution) vs externally (outside local hospital). Some let you do either; others only let you do one of the two. A decent chunk of the programs I looked at allow internal hospitalist moonlighting... Pay will vary from $65-150/hr standard, although at one institution I've heard of pay rising to $250/hr for hard-to-fill shifts (yes this is for a resident). Also, internal moonlighting malpractice insurance is I believe always provided by the program. Externally, sometimes that local hospital will provide it, or else you have to figure it out on your own. Anecdotally, and from a few different programs, I've heard of residents "landing in the attending tax bracket" or "doubling their salary." So, at the right program, moonlighting $ (and the extra training) is plentiful and a great deal for IM PGY2-3....'

Finish all steps including your USMLE Step 3!-(get a mean score with no attempts).  Many IMG Friendly residency programs directors have spoken to me personally and discuss this at the annual residency directors' meetings stating that they now REQUIRE THIS step's PASSAGE AS A prerequisite for IMGs EVEN THOUGH THEY MAY NOT STATE THIS SPECIFICALLY on their website.

If you have not yet started yours STEPS, then for Goodness Sakes, GET VERY HIGH SCORES in ALL STEPS! PERIOD! For IMGS, the USMLE steps's scores and lack of USMLE failures, account for 95-98% of your residency Application's potential for success. (or to put it more frankly, if you want to achieve the $204K per annum salaries that US primary care physicians make, then get HIGH SCORES_ i.e., use COMMON SENSE!!!: i.e., :

SEE THE USMLE Course RATINGS BELOW for information on the various USMLE courses.

• Kaplan Live (cost me $8800-Chicago) Good Material, Some teachers are good, others terrible. Also good Q-Banks. But they are useless for someone that needs personalized attention for problems. Also there is no TRUE " CASH-REFUND GUARANTEE." BOTTOM LINE-I got a 163 with them that was a massive failure. In OTHER WORDs THEY ALREADY HAVE YOUR MONEY before YOU EVEN START THE COURSE so they thus have no incentive to ascertain that you pass.

• Pass Program (IL) total cost was $11,000 (including Room and Board) for a 30-day course with the same problem of having no true INDIVIDUALIZED instruction by a certified MD professor. ! Also their PASS rate is closer to 17% and not 94% (as they claim), as that is what I confirmed through numerous forum friends that failed on any given month. And similar to Kaplan,
there is the problem of having no TRUE " CASH-REFUND GUARANTEE."

What about the others e.g., USMLE Success Academy, NYCS Prep, Dr Gold (RE 'bronze...') Becker, Sylvan, DIT, MedSchool Tutors and SINGLE MD or resident MOM and POP ($10-50-80/hr "DISCOUNT" operations via Tutorz or Wyzant or "JoeBlow Medical Doctor "... They have been in operation for 4 months as of  February, 2018 and claim to guarantee you the MOON- but with what type of experience?-i.e., Delusions of GRANDEUR?)

MEMBERS OF MY BLOG, AS WELL AS MY OTHER ACQUAINTANCES HAVE REPEATEDLY PROVIDED nightmarish encounters with these entities. Very similar to Kaplan and Pass in that one respect--THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY, BUT DO NOT REFUND THE FUNDS IF YOU DO NOT PASS. for example- One Caribe student hired Med School Tutors for 69 hours in order to prepare for step 1 (this student had one prior failure at score 156).RE:

After 69 hrs of billed tutoring, at a cost of $20,700(!!!!) , this student improved on his next attempt, to a 163-FAIL!!!! This horror story with a tutor recently graduated from a top US medical school makes it clear that a top notch tutor needs

 a. years of experience to tutor effectively
b. the above should be specific tutoring experience with IMGs (be they international from Europe or Asia etc or US IMGs from Caribes)
c. to be able to give a 100% guarantee to this effect--otherwise they are marketing nonsensical, unverified claims that resemble PASS program and Kaplan..

Not worth it. Tried for Step 2 CK and got ripped about 2000 USD ). Classmate tried and supposedly had 'success,' I'm questioning that. Anyway, he gives an initial 'free consultation,' which was interesting, but not very helpful with regard to relevant material. He gives you a lot of 'resources' (links to online materials eg wikipedia articles etc), but you can honestly just google this yourself- AND find better resources His approach to teaching is going through the question together with you and basically helping you improve test-taking skills if that's your weakness. But he doesn't really seem to know what's high yield on the test. Gave me a bunch of links to memorize when I was already pressed for time. Furthermore, didn't seem to account for that lack of time and kept going off tangent, especially the first session.

He wanted to do 6 ish hour sessions per day, straight. I was willing to go through 3 hour chunks, but stopped after a brief period. I took a shelf where I was weak and got maybe a 1-2 question improvement from a previous. Likely a fluke. But overall, not very helpful tutor, unstructured, and seems to be out there to squeeze out all your money.

...

I know we're all students. Just trying to help out anyone else who struggling, but needs guidance. Take care and good luck.

NYCS Prep

Failed my USMLE step 1 exam with very low score after taking NYCS prep class, it was an utter waste of time and money. The instructors are incompetent and did not answer any of my questions, they also treated me like I was stupid when i did not know something, they read out of kaplan books and plagiarized. I definitely do not recommend them, their new york center is very small and cramped and not as advertised.
They also pay people to write fake success reviews dont be tricked by them

Dr Gold?
every single review was stellar (a bit too good...ie fake???)

USMLE Success Academy?

Failed with USMLESUCCESS ACADEMY total ripoff course - any thoughts or advice?

I got a failing score on USMLE step 1 exam and I have been surprised to see such a low score, I memorized all of usmle success academy notes and it did not help me on the real exam. I read first aid and did the usmle success academy course in Chicago, it was a total waste of time and money, they did not even teach me how to answer questions properly and the content was wrong, I had to correct the instructor a few times on things that were wrong, I wasted my time and money and now they wont even offer a refund, they wont answer my calls, I tried to call them anonymous and they answered since they thought I was trying to sign up. USMLE SUCCESS ACADEMY IS A SCAM AND FRAUD FOR USMLE STEP 1 please beware of this scam program that guarantees pass. ANY COMPANY THAT GUARANTEES PASS IS A TOTAL SCAM

I do not know how I am going to get into residency with a fail on step 1 especially now that it is PASS/FAIL

I do not recommend USMLE SUCCESS ACADEMY AT ALL, please watch out for this scam ripoff class.

That is why, again,/....]

THE ABOVE FIRMS are an example of  "McNaughten's rule" in practice i.e., one is criminally insane to use them!

ach advance: my small business has had 4 months of revenues at $27,000 per month. I apply (see the transactor-dropbox method) and am underwritten (approved) for $27,000 for which a 35.2% one-time lump sum fee is attached to the $27,000. Now I will pay this back at a constant payback (daily ach withdrawal amount) of $100 per day, for 12 months.
(contrast the above, with a merchant cash advance, where in another example for say a $10,000 advance, I will payback a fixed percentage (payback) of my merchant (credit card) charges per day, until the $10,000 is paid off; for example, this amount may be charge may be a fixed percentage rate of  8% of each day's merchant charges, regardless of whether it is a low revenue-day or not; in other words, it makes "s-s sense..."

consultancies
I have been advised for heart surgery. Now what? I trust my healthcare providers, but still what exactly should I do, in terms of my own personal decision-making plan to help me survive- literally. I first classify, with help from two separate specialist 'second opinions,'  my heart disease into the common 80% or the uncommon 20%. The reason is that the common 80% of this very well -studied condition, receive surgical care that is nearly the same in terms of survival outcomes, regardless of whether I go to the top hospital such as Mayo Clinic, or whether I simply go to a local heart surgery center, such as East Tennessee State University Medical Center. If I am deemed to be in the uncommon (more complex case or more advanced), then there are big differences in my survival outcomes, if I get my operation at the Mayo Clinic vs East Tennessee State. So I let out all stops, and pursue a top -notch center, even with a long wait.

or I have been diagnosed with lymphoma. Now what? I find that they tell me that Hodgkin's lymphoma is the better survivability one. But only 10% of all patients have Hodgkin's and 90% nonHodgkins. And I have non Hodgkins. So now what?  I next classify, with help from two separate specialist 'second opinions,'  my non Hodgkins lymphoma into a sub-type, with many other sub-sub-typing variables.  The reason is that the global overall numbers for these diseases, mean nothing to me. I care very specifially about my condition as a specified case, and not a generalization. Once again, these are all very highly studies, but I would rather be in one of the more common categories, even at the sub-types'- level, because these categories have over the years received more funding, and thus have a larger arsenal for treatment, and even full cure in some cases. What about clinical trials? They sound fancy, but these are just that- research, and you are the guinea pig. So as fancy as this sounds, the trials are unknowns, and you would rather not be in one. Now based upon the prior decision path, you will again find that for the most common of the commons, and at a well defined set of subtypes for your case, you may have two very similar survivabilities provided to you by your second opinions. That is good news, and means that there is a consensus on treatment protocols, and most medical centers' oncology (cancer-) sections will get similar results, again using Mayo Clinic vs East Tennessee State University. If not in a good agreement, then you had best get a third opinion, and try for a top-notch center; however, cancer does tend to spread, so speed and time are of the essence ( in an "s-s way of looking at it...").

There is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) from a well -known Caribbean medical school. He arrives in the US, after completion of his medical school, and begins study for his USMLE. But he needs cash to survive. Why not "kill two birds with one stone," and get clinical LORS (Letters of Reference) from the same employer. Certainly there are many private practitioner jobs offerings in this regard. But in this case, we have placed IMGs into "real-time hands-on-" positions, with decent pay, benefits, and LORs to boot! Sometimes even a leg up in the ERAS process for that very same department in the same hospital through the proverbial "network." In other words, this all makes makes "s-s sense."

The above examples, and this "bare bones" notepad (text file) presentation tell you pretty much how this operations manager works. There is too way much "social media noise," that interferes with your/our professional day-to-day, even minute-to-minute individual or team-based-productivities. We here at s-s group, use our brilliant (engineer of course...) ex coo'-consultant's methodology for the basic 80 to 90% of non complex, recurring standardizaeable problem-based transactions. The other 10% are prioritized based on "known in advance-" outcomes, derived from specialist consultants. The examples in the consultancies' section bear witness to how you will start to use the field's specialist knowledge to improve your scheduling, into standardized, prioritized cost-efficiency-driven segments for your "personalized s-s success program..."
